Our school vision for teaching History
At St Patrick’s, we believe the teaching of history will help our children to understand their own lives by exploring the past, with a particular focus on their local area. It will enable them to develop their own sense of identity and have a core set of beliefs and values. The teaching of history will develop the children’s knowledge and understanding of significant events and people throughout History that have shaped the world. It will also enable them to use the key skills of chronological understanding, interpretation of historical events and the analysis of primary and secondary sources. We aim to provide all children with the opportunity to reach their full potential, develop their curiosity and enquiry skills through a shared vocabulary and appreciate the richness of the past.
