Welcome to Class Saint John Paul. I am Miss Weall and I am the class teacher alongside our wonderful teaching assistants Mrs Ashworth and Mr Lewis. We have a mixed class of year 3 and 4 children and we are excited to work hard, have fun and make friends throughout the year!
We began our action-packed year of learning with a fabulous English unit based on “A Bear Called Paddington” by Michael Bond. In Geography, we learnt all about London and how it compares to Rochdale while in Science we investigated Living Things – including Humans. We learnt about the inside of the human body and learnt about our skeletons, teeth and digestive systems! Later on in the year, we will explore different Historical periods including the Tudors, the Shang Dynasty and the Egyptians.
Homework in KS2 is online, please find the link below. Children must be completing 4 nuggets a week on century tech and these are set each Tuesday.
It is very important the children in year 3 and 4 practice their times tables ready for the national times table check in year 4. You can use Times Table Rockstar’s at home to help practice or the times table check website, please find the links below: https://ttrockstars.com/

The children access Accelerated Reader in school for their ZPD books. You can access this at home using this link below to check the book your child is reading is at their reading level:

All log ins for these websites can be found in the back of your children’s reading record.
Spellings
It is very important for children in years 3 and 4 to practise their spellings daily. Each child has specific days noted in their spelling record for their individual spelling test. Every child is given personalised spellings tailored to their needs. We want to ensure that all children can confidently spell the KS1 Common Exception Words before they move on to the Year 3 and 4 Common Exception Words.
Your child’s well-being is of vital importance to us and we want to ensure that they are happy and progressing. If you ever have any queries, questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me via the class email or through the main office. Keep an eye on our Twitter feed too to keep up to date with all the exciting things happening in our classroom.
