Our school vision for teaching Religious Education

At Saint Patrick’s, Religious Education will be taught discretely and developmentally.  It will include the deepening of knowledge, and understanding of key theological ideas and their application to life. Throughout the curriculum, there are many opportunities offered for children to apply and use their knowledge and skills and to deepen their understanding of Gospel values and think creatively. We also believe it is important that the pupils know that they belong to a caring community (Saint Patrick’s Parish family) as well as having an awareness and understanding of other faiths and religions.

The outcome of excellent Religious Education is religiously literate and engaged young people who have the knowledge, understanding and skills – appropriate to their age and capacity – to reflect spiritually, and think ethically and theologically, and who are aware of the demands of religious commitment in everyday life (RECD 2012 p6).
